The Miramichi Rotary Pond Hockey tournament was started in 2005 to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rotary International. It promotes the City of Miramichi as a winter tourism destination, and allows for some fun and exercise. It is a major fund- raiser for the Rotary Club of Newcastle.

World Pond Hockey Championships

February 10-13, 2012

The World Pond Hockey Championship was first held in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick in 2002. It was the first event of its kind to be held anywhere. From humble beginnings during that first ever event in 2002 that saw 40 teams compete, most of which were from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Maine, the event has grown to feature 120 teams from around the world. Aside from the hundreds of hockey enthusiasts that travel to Plaster Rock each February to compete, the event attracts thousands of spectators and media from around the globe as well.

Women’s Open Div, A competitive division with a minimum age of 19 +
Men’s Rec, A division that is competitive but with a bit more emphasis on fun 25 +

In five short years we experienced some incredible pond hockey memories! We were able to overcome the harshest of climates while attracting international attention. Unfortunately, we will not be able to host a tournament this year due to some logistical challenges. Thank you for your patronage! You helped make pond hockey history in Alberta!

U.S. Pond Hockey Championships

Jan 20-22, 2012 Lake Nokomis, Minneapolis

Reunite with your friends over a weekend when time can stand still and we can all be kids for three days. The champions will go down in history with their names etched into the Golden Shovel, a symbol of our lifelong love and passion for the purity of this outdoor game.

Lac La Biche Kinsmen Tournament

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

Each year the Kinsmen design, build and maintain eight pro-rated rinks for kids aged five to twelve years old to play the game of hockey for the pure fun of it. These rinks are without boards, without blue lines and have only a goal net at each end.

The children that have participated over the years in this one-day event have come away with life long memories and have made lasting friends. The parents and other fans have sent us personal thank you letters on behalf of their children. It is without a doubt, a great winter day for all those in attendance. Telephone: 780-623-7079
